Legionella is a bacterium that can multiply in hot-water systems, pools and whirlpools, cooling towers and air conditioning systems and can cause lung infection (Legionnaires' disease). Regular screening is recommended for hotels, hospitals, care homes and sports facilities.
The analysis is done by culture and, as it is a slow-growing bacterium, the result takes about 10 days. Samples are taken from different points (tank outlet, return line, shower head, tap); the result is given in cfu/L.
- A sampling plan is prepared after a risk assessment
- Thermal or chlorine shock disinfection recommended for positive results
- A pre-season screening package for hotels
If you send us your hot-water system diagram, we prepare the sampling plan for choosing the sampling points; the results can be added to your risk assessment file.
